Apart from it being my favourite season, it also means that it won't be long until Baby Girl arrives and I get to smush her.
With the change of season, there have been a lot of changes around here recently too - Dan and I are still going crazy with the DIY, making sure the house is ready before a newborn comes along. We have both been cramming in lots of last bits of work too, before I wind down and go into holiday mode for maternity leave. Alfred has also started preschool and he LOVES it. I was convinced that he would only do two three-hour sessions as week to begin with... turns out, he adores it so much that he is already doing four sessions a week! He has adapted so quickly and I'm so proud of him for being so independent and confident. Me, on the other hand, not so much. Even though the extra time has been wonderful, it has taken me a few weeks to adjust mentally to the new situation. It is strange being away from him so much... I think the fact that I have had so many extra hospital appointments, outside of his preschool hours, hasn't helped. It has meant that I have been away from him even more than expected, these past couple of weeks.
I have been so busy with work too, that I haven't had a chance to use the time that Alfred is at preschool, to just sit and chill.
Last week, Dan and I decided to turn that around and go into town for breakfast. We had such a lovely time, that we vowed to take little trips out together more and so we did it again yesterday!
Both trips were the perfect opportunity to wear my lovely clothes from Isabella Oliver, who this post is in partnership with.
I felt dressed up and comfortable. That, paired with going out with my love and spending some quality time with him, was the perfect pick-me-up (I feel like I say "pick-me-up" all the time these days! Apologies for overusing that phrase!).
I'm not a fan of buying maternity wear that doesn't work post partum. It feels like a waste of money and I love knowing that I have some nice clothes to wear after I give birth too, so the Maternity & Beyond range is perfect for me.
I chose this top and trousers, because I liked not just how smart they looked, but also how comfy they looked too.
I can confirm that they are indeed very comfy! Look how I can sit down on that step! I am seven and a half months pregnant and I'm sitting on a step! The trousers didn't split at the seams (haha) and the waistband didnt dig in at all.
The top is very stretchy and I love the three gold buttons on the left shoulder - a really nice detail, that gives the outfit a little lift.
I wore this outfit with sneakers, but I can also imagine teaming it up with pumps or brogues. I might go crazy and try some shiny Doc Martens with these trousers too!
I love how this dress has a slight gothic feel to it, with the flowing fabric giving you lots of room for your growing belly (and hiding the baby belly post birth).
The material is more heavyweight than some of my other dresses, making it perfect for Autumn and Winter.
Another wonderful feature are the buttons on the chest - great for easy and discreet breastfeeding, if that is what you have chosen to do!
I went slightly "Victorian-chic" (ha) when I styled this dress, but it would also look great with sneakers, pumps and would be lovely layered with a big winter coat.
