I've had an unintended six month hiatus from The Edit series... I think the last one that I posted was back in April! Woops.
A few life events have occured, which totally threw me off my game, but I'm back now and ready to go.
I'm not sure how many more monthly edits I will do... I might do them until the new year and then start posting my favourite outfits in a more relaxed and organic way. I'm finding that being strict with a posting timetable is making me think too hard about the outfits that I want to share, rather than sharing what I really love or am currently inspired by.
So, next year onwards, still expect style posts, but expect them to be a bit more random - sometimes a few a month, sometimes none!
I wasn't planning on sharing this outfit on here, as my November Edit. However, I've had so many DMs about the various items I've featured on Instagram, I thought I would share a couple of pics in higher resolution and also include the weblinks, so everything is easier to find.
I love dressing for Autumn. I find I dress more creatively with all of the layering and I find this season so inspiring.
I love the colours, the crisp air and the smells. I love nothing better than throwing on a chunky knit over a long dress or a pair of jeans.
In the Autumn and Winter seasons, I do prioritise warmth and comfort over everything else. There's nothing worse than shivering in the snow with bare legs and a thin jacket! I will always refuse to be cold, for the sake of fashion.
The outfit that I'm wearing in these photos is one that I wear a lot - weekly, if not multiple times a week! It's just so easy to wear and so comfortable. I hate being cold and I tend to want to wear my pjs or trackies all of the time, once the nights draw in. If there's one outfit that will lure me out of my hibernation on a daily basis, it will be this one.
Whilst wearing it, I can run errands and play with the kids in the park and still feel stylish. And warm. Let's not forget it's all about being warm at this time of year.
The Dr. Martens boots are faux fur lined and incredibly comfy (yep I'm saying comfy again) and warm (yep I'm saying warm again too) and I know I will get lots of wear out of them for years. I have already worn them six times in the past week.
The Topshop mom jeans are ones that I wear every day and their slightly looser style is more practical for my day to day life with two small children. They aren't too wide legged though, so they work with the boots still.
Lots of styles of knitwear would work with this outfit, roll necks, oversized style, cardigans... the lot. Because it was a bit milder on the day that we took these photos, I wore a thin jumper that was easy to layer with jackets... which then brings me to the coat. OOhhhhh the coat. I love this coat so much and I wear it with EVERYTHING. It was gifted to me by Boden and I know I will wear it until I'm ninety. I love things that you can just throw on and they instantly jazz up any outfit, without you even trying. I do have a thing for leopard print, but I love how the print on this coat is a little more subtle. It makes it easier to wear just about anywhere.
With my personal style, I love contrasts and juxtapositions. I wear dresses and skirts with trainers, frilly tops with holey jeans... you get the picture. This outfit is no exception, with the leopard print coat and the boots balancing each other out nicely, with the coat glamming up the grungy boots and jeans. I will keep wearing it until it gets so cold that I will just be a bundle of woolly hats and gloves.
