I have mentioned it before on Instagram, but the past couple of weeks I have really noticed that I'm pregnant.
I have been soooo sweaty because of the heat, plus I have just been diagnosed with SPD - and now I have hurt my back! I feel like I am falling apart!
I decided to do a follow up post to my first "Pregnancy Pick-Me-Ups" post, as there are so many brands that I still want to share, that have really helped me in some way.
Ok. So I have SPD and lower back pain (did I mention that already?! Surely not...) and I was starting to struggle sleeping at night. I find it hard to roll over, as it's really painful and lying on one side for too long triggers intense pain in my hips and legs, due to the extra weight I am carrying, plus having looser pelvic joints these days.
Bbhugme sent me one of their pregnancy pillows to try and I don't say this lightly, it has been an absolute game changer for me.
The inner pillow is filled with antibacterial ESP beads and the outer cover is made from bamboo. It is designed to mould around your body, however you decide to position it and use it. During pregnancy, you can use it lengthways, to support your head, belly, knees and feet. I have found that it really takes the pressure off my joints at night, plus having it under my belly helps me to breath more easily.
I also love this pillow, because once you have given birth, you can use it as a nursing pillow and baby nest. For a nursing pillow, you just wrap it around your body, whilst sitting up, giving you a nice ledge to rest your arm and the baby on.
This has worked so well for me at night that I would recommend this brand, if you are also suffering with pregnancy joint pain. It just takes the edge off a bit when trying to get to sleep.
Just Polly make some really lovely maternity/non-maternity wear, that's a bit more special than your average t-shirt and jeans (not that there is anything wrong with that).
I have a couple of their dresses, but my current favourite is this pink "Clemmie" dress. It's such a beautiful shade of pink and I love how you can wear it with sneakers during the day and also dress it up for an evening date or wedding.
Whilst not feeling 100% physically, popping on this dress makes me feel a bit more put together and like myself.
There is also a little popper on the chest, which gives you easy access for breastfeeding post birth. Always a bonus in my book!
Daylily Paris Moisturising Oil
I love trying new oils and creams and when I started to run out of my current moisturisers, I thought I would give the Daylily Paris Stretchmark Oil a try.
I know that oils can't truly prevent stretchmarks, but they can really sooth your skin as it's stretching to ginormous proportions and also help with the healing process, if you do get stretchmarks.
I really love this oil, because it glides on really smoothly and dries quite quickly. It also smells gorgeous - kind of like a buttery/toffee/faint popcorn type smell. Such a treat, after a long day!
Storq do a lovely capsule range of maternity wear, that you can also wear post birth. This maternity and nursing bra is wonderful - it is incredibly soft and stretchy, so perfect for me now with my growing body. It is is the most simply designed nursing bra ever, as it is designed to to just pull down to one side when you need to feed your baby. No clips, buckles, extra fabric and the like. In my experience, the more simple something is, the comfortable it is and that is definitely the case with this bra. Perfect for staying comfy and relaxed, during pregnancy and post birth.
I also have their Kaftan dress, which is so beautiful and soft! I will be sharing it on Instagram soon, so keep an eye out for it.
Ilado Paris do a really beautiful range of jewellery, based on the ancient Mayan tradition of pregnant women wearing an "Angel Caller" chime near their bellies, for protection, guidance and comfort.
They have updated this idea beautifully, with modern and elegant necklaces, that work well for stylish mums-to-be. You can shorten the chain post birth, so it doesn't get in the way as much with a small baby - therefore being able to carry on wearing it with the familiar, gentle chime sound, that you and your baby have grown to know and share.
A sweet way to celebrate the bond between mother and child.
Blossom & Glow
Blossom and Glow is a webshop, based in Australia, with a fantastic selection of maternity and non maternity clothes. The customer service is wonderful and they have even created capsule wardrobe options for pre baby and post baby, so you don't even have to think about what outfits you might choose, when your baby brain is elsewhere.
This chunky knit is the knit that I have been searching for, for years. Warm, big and cosy, with lots of room for a growing bump. I can't wait to wear it more this Autumn. I have also realised it is perfect for babywearing too - it's large enough to throw on over a sling, keeping both you and your baby warm.
I also have a stripy nursing top and some ace maternity jeans from this shop - I will be sharing them on Instagram soon.
The Mother Box
I talked about The Mother Box in my last "Pregnancy Pick-Me-Ups" post, after they sent me their Materna Tea Box.
A few weeks ago, they sent me their Pregnancy & Birth Box and I have to say, it's just wonderful.
Inside the box (which is sturdy enough to keep) there are straws to use for drinks to keep you hydrated during labour, a flapjack to keep your energy levels up, essential oils and teas to help you relax in the late stages of your pregnancy and birth, Yes Mum affirmation cards and a scented candle.
It pretty much has everything to help you prepare for a relaxing and positive birth - exactly what I need to help get me into a good headspace for labour this time around.
