Let's talk about therapy.
But first, I need to address something;
Nothing is what seems on Instagram. Underneath all of the pretty pictures are real people with real problems. If people don't want to share the darker parts of their lives with others, then that is fine. That's their boundaries and their choice. To a certain extent, this was my choice, until something in me started to shift recently. I have topics which are really close to my heart that I haven't been brave enough to share. But I want to break down those walls and the perfect Instagram illusion a little bit on here, so here goes…
Recently, I’ve found myself at a bit of a crossroads with my blog and Instagram.
I have rarely posted on my blog and have been taking regular breaks from Instagram too, only appearing to post brand ADs that I have been under obligation to post.
To be honest, I have felt a bit stuck.
I have been in a bit of a fog of anxiety lately and want to break the cycle.
We are a very outdoorsy family. Dan and I love hiking and have trekked over many a lone trail over the years and Alfred and Freya seem to have caught our love of the fresh air and being outdoors. Going on micro adventures is our happy place. Our little slice of peace and heaven, if you like.
We will explore anywhere - from towns and cities to places that are more wild. Some walking is easier done with the kids in our back carriers, but some rough terrain is also doable with a pram… if you have the right kind of pram, that is.
Happy New Year everyone! I took a little break from the blog and a mini break off Instagram over Christmas and the New Year and I must say, it felt good!
I love social media and all of the connections and friends that I've made on it, but it's so good to sometimes take some time out, to refresh my brain and give it a bit of a rest.
I don't know about any of you guys, but I sometimes start to struggle a bit at this time of year. It often starts at around Christmas time and ebbs and flows for a few weeks in to January/February. I think, for me, it's a combination of the shorter days and lack of vitamin D, being inside more, socialising less (because everyone keeps getting ill... as I write this, I have a raging ear infection) and possibly just because I hate being really cold.
I really dislike that I feel like this during the Winter, so over the past couple of years I have made a few changes to try and help combat it. I thought I would share them with you all, as even though everyone is so different, someone might find it useful.
